Tour through Romania – Transilvania
1 st day – Hungary, Alba Iulia
The group will be wellcome at the frontier by a Romanian guide, who will accompany them the whole travel. On the way, the city Arad is visited briefly – the buildings in art nouveau from Maria Theresa`s time. Along the Mures River(Mieresch), the group will be driven inside the West Carpathians. Deva is well-known in Romania due to its castles, as well as due of the dacical and Roman attachments from the environment. By the Mures` Valley along, the group comes into Hunedoara, a largo ironwork center which is know for the impressive look. The plant built on Roman wall remainders is the Hunedoara King Sigismund-which became later German Emperor- in 1409 the prince Voicu Corvin has been given thanks for his bravery in the fights against the Otomans. Here is to be seen a style mixture of Gothic and Renaissance. There are to see, among other things, the Chapel, the Knight`s Hall. Dinner and overnights accomodation in Alba Iulia. 2nd day – Alba Iulia – Sibiu
Breakfast. In the morning, the group will continue the visit with theSaxonian church from Sebes (Muehlbach) and the sashi villages. The group will have a city round course in Medias (Mediasch) with inspection of the SaintMargaret`s Church. This church has the largest wing altar from Romania. The group arrives also at Sighisoara. The objects of interest of the city are the old Clock Tower, the Mountain Church. The most beautiful church castle of Romaniastands in Biertan, a typical farmer village. It is listed as UNESCO cultural monument. In Sibiel the group can visit the glass icon museum, which is the most important of this kind in whole Romania. In the afternoon, the tourists arrive atHermannstadt (Sibiu), arount the old part of town, to visit, during a short walk, the Bruckenthal Museum. At the same time, the group can also visit the gothicalchurch, the seat of the Evanghelist bishops in Romania; the city was the capital during the Habsburgers. Late in the evening, the group is driven to Ramnicu Valceaby the Red Tower pass. Before that, a short stop is made at Cozia Monastery. Dinner and overnight accomodation in Ramnicu Valcea`s area.
3rd Day Sibiu – Medias - Biertan - Sighisoara – Sibiu
A city round course is made in Medias (Mediasch) with inspection of the Saint Margaret Church. This has the largest wing altar of Romania, as well as the castle from Biertan (Birthaelm). The most beautiful church castle of Romania stands inBiertan. It is listed visited as a U.N.E.S.C.O. cultural monument. At the end of the 19th century this was the seat of the Evangelist bishops from Romania. The group will arrive also at Sighisoara (Schaessburg). This city is often compared withSalzburg. The objects of interest of the city are the old clock tower, the birth house of the prince Dracula, the mountain church, as well as the Josef HaltrichHigh School. The most beautiful medieval city of Romania rises on a wooded hill. In the center of the city rises the 429 meters high castle mountain, on whose highest point, mountain church and mountain school are visible far away. Along the fortress wall still stand nine that were at the beginning 14 towers with pointed roofs guard. In the afternoon the group comes into Sibiu (Hermannstadt), the city which was, because of the foot of the South Carpathians, under Hungarian rule in 12th century, of a German settler. During a short walk in the old part of town is visited the large and small ring and afterwards also the bridge. Dinner and overnight accomodation in Hermannstadt(Sibiu) or environment-3 * Hotel.
4th Day Sibiu - Brasov - Poiana Brasov - Bran - Sinaia or Predeal
After the breakfast in the morning the group is driven to Brasov(Kronstadt). Here, is visited the old part of town with its Black Church, the largest gothical building from Eastern Europe. Here valuable Turkish carpets are issued, which were given during the centuries by the Kronstaedter dealers of the church. The old city hall can be also visited in the proximity. The group will spend the midday in the ski travel area of Poiana Brasov (Schullerau), where they will eat the robber hut. For the afternoon is reserved the attendance of the Bran castle (Toerzburg). Although the building was began by the Teutonians, the curent appearance was gained in the 13th century, when the citizens of Saxonia developped it into a defense system. This Castle is very well-kown as Dracula`s Castle, because for short time also the prince Dracula (Vlad the Phaeler) lived here, out of the Walachei. In reality, Vlad Tepes never entered the Bran Castle. But it was convinient back in those times to believe that he did, because Transilvania was a very powerful state and the Bran Castle really matches the Bram Stocker`s description about Dracula`s Castle. 5th day Sinaia/Predeal - Bucharest - Sinaia/Predeal
At first, tourist will have breakfast in the morning. The trip continues with the tour in Bucharest. The capital of Romania, with over 2 million inhabitants is one of the largest cities of the East. After almost three hours of travel the group reaches Bucharest. Bucharest is surnamed the "Paris of the East" - a shepherd gave this name to the cityBucur- Bucuresti. During the city tour, the group will see architectural monument dating back from the “bark toepoque”, the Arch of Triumph, the monument of the Roman Wolf Female with Romulus and Remus. Bucharestexperienced many dark times in the run of the centuries- like its distruction causes by the Turks in 1595. Thecountry`s capital is called also the Paris of the Balkans. The group will undertake a round travel and see the National Theatre, the University of Bucharest, the Church of the Patriarchy and buildings from the 20th century, which were established under the dictator Ceausescu, and, if possible, the Palace of the Parliament – the second largest building (as surface) after the Pentagon worldwide. The city tour continues with the visit at the Village Museum. Late in the evening, the group will be back again in Sinaia or Predea. Dinner and overnight accomodation in Sinaia or Predealarea at a 3* Hotel.
6th Day Sinaia /Predeal - Bran - Moeciu - Sinaia or Predeal
At first, in the morning, the group goes visiting the Peles Castle in Sinaia, which was the summer residence of the Royal family. Karl von Hohenzollern Sigmaringen- victory Marine General – who named Carol I as King on the Romanian Throne. To the mixture of wood, stone and framework architecture with asymmetrical towers in the style of the German Renaissance, are added Italian terraces, build in Baroque Style. The Peles Castle, built in the Bavarian Style, reminds the Hohenzollern`s of homeland. Sinaia is a city in the South Carpathians, which got the name from the monks from the Sinai Penninsula, because of the monastery, which was built here, in the now called town ofSinaia. In the afternoon (optional), lunch or they can drive to get at the pension into the Moeciu Valley. Late, in the evening, the group will come back again into Sinaia or Predeal. Dinner and overnight accomodation.
7th day Sinaia/ Predeal-Church Castles-Miercurea Ciuc- Targu Mures
Breakfast. Today the group will come in the North of Brasov where they will visit two Church Castles by Harman (honey mountain) and Prejmer (Tartlau). Afterwards they will drive over Sf.Gheorghe and to it overMiercurea Ciuc until Targu Mures. It`s the most beautiful day because the group will have the upportunity to see the beautiful landscape of the Carpathians. In the afternoon, in Targu Mures, is made the visit of the Culture Calace and of that Orthodox Church (the largest from Romania) and Targu Mures with its pretty shopping centre. This is an opportunity for the group to buy souveniers. Dinner and overnight accomodation in Targu Mures area or environment.
8th day Targu Mures – Cluj- Oradea – Hungary
At first tourists will have breakfast. Today tourist will head to home. In the morning, on their way they will visit the St. Michael`s Cathedral which is a gothical sacred construction very often visited and compared withStephen`s Cathedral in Vienna. On the trip through the West Carpathians, the group will see a lot of buildings built in art nouveau. The border will be crossed at Boron, where the guides will leave the group. Now the tourists drive towards Hungary.
