Tour through Romania – following the Sachsons from Transilvania
1st Day Bors - Oradea - Oradea –Tihuta-pass
The group is wellcomed by the Romanian Guide, who will accompany them along the whole travel. A few km away from the border comes the city ofOradea, where tourists can see a lot of buildings in art nouveau. In the morning, the group travels into the West Carpathians and make a short stop in Cluj Napocaat St. Michael`s Cathedral(the old gothical construction often compared withStephen`s Cathedral from Vienna), which was built by the Saxonian People in the 14th century. Afterwards, the groups goes to Bistrita at the Evanghelist`Church, which was also built by the Saxonians. Dinner with program and overnightaccomodation in Hotel Dracula 3*.
2nd day Bistrita – Sighisoara –Brasov
Today the groups travels towards Targu Mures, and then towardsSighisoara. This is the most beatiful day from all the tour due to the gorgeous landscaped of the Carpathians. In the afternoon, in Targu Mures, tourists visit theCulture Palace and the Orthodox Church (the largest one from Romania), the shopping center and on their way, they can buy for themselves souveniers. Then the group arrives to Sighisoara. The city often compared with Salzburg. The objects of interest here are the old Clock Tower, the birth house of Count Dracula, the Mountain Church, as well as Josef Haltrich High School. The most beautiful medieval city rises on a wooded hill. Along the fortress wall, still stand 9 towers with roofs guards, which were at the beginning 14. This impressive building from the 14th century burned up in a fire in 1676, exception make the ammunition camp, the vault and the historical museum-which is now a reproduction of an old farmacy from the 17th century. A short stop is made inBiertan, at the largest Church Castle in Romania, in the afternoon. In the late afternoon, the group drives to Brasov. Here are being visited : the old part of the town, the Black Church –the largest gothical construction in Eastern Europe. Here lie a lot of valuable Turkish Carpets. In the proximity, the old City Hall can be also visited. Dinner and overnight accomodation in a 3* Hotel.
3rd day Sinaia/Predeal – Brasov – Bran Prejmer- Sinaia
After breakfast, the group comes to Brasov. Then they will visit the Hall Square in the heart in the old part of the town, the Black Church.The old City Hall in the proximity can also be visited. The midday will be spent in the ski travel area in Poiana Brasov, where tourists will eat robber hut. In the afternoon, they will go at Bran Castle (Toerzburg). Although the building was already begun by theTeutonen, the castle has the current appearance only in the 13th century, when the citizens of Saxonia developed it into the defense system. This castle is well-known also as Dracula castle, because for short time also the prince Dracula (Vladthe Phaeler) lived here, out of the Walachei. In reality, Vlad Tepes never entered the Bran Castle. But it was convinient back in those times to believe that he did, because Transilvania was a very powerful state and the Bran Castle really matches the Bram Stocker`s description about Dracula`s Castle. Afterwards, the group drives to Tarlau. The place is the easternmost German settlement. The cross church and the system there are worthy to be seen . Dinner and overnightaccomodation in a 3* Hotel in Sinaia/ Predeal area.
4th day Sinaia/Predeal – Peles Castle – Moeciu – Sinaia/Predeal
At first, in the morning, the group goes visiting the Peles Castle in Sinaia, which was the summer residence of the Royal family. Karl von HohenzollernSigmaringen- victory marine general – who named Carol I as king on the Romanian Throne. To the mixture of wood, stone and framework architecture with asymmetrical towers in the style of the German Renaissance, are added Italian terraces, build in baroque style. The Peles Castle, built in the Bavarian Style, reminds the Hohenzollern`s of homeland. Sinaia is a city in the South Carpathians, which got the name from the monks from the Sinai Penninsula, because of the monastery, which was built here, in the now called town of Sinaia. In the afternoon, optional, lunch or they can drive to get into the Moeciu Valley Pension. Late, in the evening, the group comes back againt into Sinaia/Predeal area. Here, dinner and overnight accomodation.
5th day Brasov – Sibiu
Tourist at first will have breakfast.Transilvanya is world-wide known for itsSaxonian Church Castles. Today therefore the Church Castles become fromSlimnic (proud castle), Axente Sever (woman village), the Saint Margaret church with their diagonal clock tower from Medias (Mediasch).
A city round course is made in Medias (Mediasch) with inspection of the Saint Margaret Church. This has the largest wing altar of Romania, as well as the castle from Biertan (Birthaelm). The most beautiful church castle of Romaniastands in Biertan. It is listed visited as UNESCO cultural monument. At the end of the 19th century this was the seat of the Evangelist bishops from Romania. The group will arrive also at Sighisoara (Schaessburg). The most beautiful medieval city of Romania rises on a wooded hill. In the center of the city rises the 429 meters high castle mountain, on whose highest point, mountain church and mountain school are visible far away. Along the fortress wall still stand nine that were at the beginning 14 towers with pointed roofs guard. In the afternoon the group comes into Sibiu (Hermannstadt), the city which was, because of the foot of the South Carpathians, under Hungarian rule in 12th century, of a German settler. During a short walk in the old part of town is visited the large and small ring and afterwards also the bridge. Dinner and overnight accomodation inHermannstadt(Sibiu) or environment-3 * Hotel
7th day Sibiu – Sebes – Deva – Alba Iulia – Arad – Hungary
After breakfast, the tourists visit Alba Iulia, where they can see parts of the fortress built by Eugen ofSavoyen. By the victory gate of the castle one recognizes the Emperor Karl the VIth, the father of Maria Theresia, as a Roman General. The fortress becomes also cathedral, and is being visited now by our tourists. The plant built on the Roman Wall reminds of the Hungarian King Sigismund – which has become later German Emperor- when in 1409 the prince Voicu Corvin has given him thanks for his courage in the fight against the Turks. Today, a mixture of styles, from Gothical to Renaissancenist is to be seen. Among other things, the group will see the Kapelle, theKnight`s Hall and the Hall of the Federal State Parliament. Afterwards, the group drives to Banat. Dinner and overnight accomodation in Arad.
8th day Arad- Hungary
Breakfast. Arad is the last romanian city that is visited by the tourists. In Nadlac the group says bye-bye to the Romanian Guides, who accompanied them the whole time during the trip. |
