Tours through Romania – Transilvania and the Carpathians Mountains

1st day Hungary – Sibiu

2nd day Sibiu – Alba Iulia – Sibiu

Breakfast. In the morning, the group will continue the visit with theBruckenthal Museum. At the same time, the group can also visit the GothicalChurch, the seat of the Evanghelist bishops in Romania; the city was the capital during the Habsburgers. Then tourists go in Alba Iulia. Here the Orthodox Churches are associated with the Catholic Cathedrals, where are the graves of thetransilvanian princes. During the visit in Alba Iulia, the group can still see parts of the fortress built by Eugen Savoyen. By the victory gate of the castle, one can recognize the Emperor Karl VI, the father of Maria Theresia, as a Roman General. In the past, the castle has become also a cathedral. Later the group reachesSibiel, where they can visit the Glass Icon Museum. In the evening, a festive dinner awaits them. Overnight accomodation in Sibiu or environment.

3rd day Sibiu – Medias- Biertan – Sighisoara – Sibiu

Breakfast.Transilvanya is world-wide known for its Saxonian Church Castles. Today therefore the Church Castles become from Slimnic (proud castle),Axente Sever (woman village), the Saint Margaret church with their diagonal clock tower from Medias (Mediasch).

A city round course is made in Medias (Mediasch) with inspection of the Saint Margaret Church. This has the largest wing altar of Romania, as well as the castle from Biertan (Birthaelm). The most beautiful Church Castle of Romania stands inBiertan. It is listed as a U.N.E.S.C.O. cultural monument. At the end of the 19thcentury this was the seat of the Evangelist bishops from Romania. The group will arrive also at Sighisoara (Schaessburg). This city is often compared with Salzburg. The objects of interest of the city are the old clock tower, the birth house of the prince Dracula, the mountain church, as well as the Josef Haltrich High School. The most beautiful medieval city of Romania rises on a wooded hill. In the center of the city rises the 429 meters high castle mountain, on whose highest point, mountain church and mountain school are visible from far away. Along the fortress wall still stand nine that were at the beginning 14 towers with pointed roofs guard. In the afternoon the group comes into Sibiu (Hermannstadt), the city which was, because of the foot of the South Carpathians, under Hungarian rule in 12th century, of a German settler. During a short walk in the old part of town is visited the large and small ring and afterwards also the bridge. Dinner and overnight accomodation in Hermannstadt(Sibiu) or environment-3 * Hotel.

4th day Sibiu – Brasov – Poiana Brasov - Bran – Sinaia / Predeal

After the breakfast, the group goes to Brasov. They visit the Town Hall Square, the Black Church, the Schei quarter. The black Church is the largestgothical building from Eastern Europe. The old city hall, which is in the proximity, can also be visited. The group will spend the midday in ski travel area of PoianaBrasov, where they will eat robber hut. For the afternoon is reserved the visit atBran Castle. Although the building was begun by the Teutonen, the currentappereance was gained only in the 13th century, when the citizens from Saxoniadevelopped it into a defense system. . This castle is well-known also as Dracula castle, because for short time also the prince Dracula (Vlad the Phaeler) lived here, out of the Walachei. In reality, Vlad Tepes never entered the Bran Castle. But it was convinient back in those times to believe that he did, becauseTransilvania was a very powerful state and the Bran Castle really matches the Bram Stocker`s description about Dracula`s Castle. Dinner and overnightaccomodation in Sinaia or Predeal area.

5th day Brasov – Cluj Napoca

After the breakfast, tourist leave for Sinaia. Here they visit the Peles Castle, which was the summer residence of the Royal Family. Karl von Hohenzollern Sigmaringen- victory Marine General – who named Carol I as King on the Romanian Throne. To the mixture of wood, stone and framework architecture with asymmetrical towers in the style of the German Renaissance, are added Italian terraces, build in Baroque Style. The Peles Castle, built in the Bavarian Style, reminds the Hohenzollern`s of homeland. Sinaia is a city in the South Carpathians, which got the name from the monks from the Sinai Penninsula, because of the monastery, which was built here, in the now called town of Sinaia. The castles of Harman (honey mountain) and Prejmer (Tartlau) are to be visited. The group then will travel towards Targu Mures. It is the most beautiful day because they will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful landscape of the Carpathian Mountains. In the afternoon in Targu Mures, is made the visit of the CulturePalace and the Orthodox Church (the largest from Romania) of Targu Mures with its pretty shopping centre from where they can buy souveniers. Dinner and overnight accomodation in Cluj Napoca or environment at a 3 * Hotel.

6th day Cluj Napoca – Oradea – Bors

After breakfast, the trip lead towards home, because the 6th day is the last on in this travel. In the morning, the group will visit Saint Michael`s Cathedral, which is often compared with Stephen`s Cathedral in Vienna; it was built by the Saxonians in the 14th century. They can also see the fixed image of the Hungarian king Mathias Corvinuscompletely to proximity. The travel through the Carpathians leads to Oradea and then to Bors (Boron). The group is now alone, the Romanian guide goes away, and the tourists will drive to Hungary.
