1st day. Bucharest - Campulung Moldovenesc
Flight from UK to Bucharest. The group will be wellcomed at the airport and transfered to the hotel. Dinner and overnight accomodation in Bucharest.
2nd day Bucharest - Sinaia -„Dracula’s Castle “- Brasov
With a city tour you’ll visit Bucharest, the former „Paris of the east “. The Romanian capital has an architecture, which was influenced by the French Classical Style, thus it owned their surname. Also today some buildings from the barking Epoque are still standing to be admired. The huge building of the „Palace of Parliament“ is not to be overlooked. A monument of the craving for administration of Ceausescus and today's seat of the Parliament. After the Pentagon in Washington, it known as the second largest building of the world. Moving on to Transylvania. Numerous myths and legends entwine themselves round the „country surrounded by theCarpathian Mountains beyond the woods, and this is not associated world wide only with Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” as a homeland of howling wolves and bloody figures. Journey to Sinaia in the picturesque PrahovaValley. Inspection of the Peles Castle, under King Karl I. After the model of the Hechinger Hohenzollernburg as summer residence building, a few kilometres further rises on a rock massif at a strategically important place between Transylvania and Valahia- the Bran Castle. The castle from that 14th Century is generally considered as the famous Dracula`s Castle, on which Bram Stokers historical novel is focusing on. But the main count VladTepes didn’t live as a blood sucking, but otherwise less blood thirsty. Moving on to Brasov, the largest city of seven-guarantor. Inspection of the town with visits of the famous Black Church, the Weaver's Bastion, created by the German Knight Medal, and the Schei of Quarter with the Orthodox Church. Dinner and overnightaccomodation in Brasov.
3rd day Brasov - Prejmer (Tartlau) - Piatra Neamt
Drive on and visit the famous Church Castle of Prejmer (Tartlau), a prime example for the architecture of the German Order of Knights. It continues to go to the North through the Eastern Carphatians .The road leads to the breath-taking Bicaz Gorge, whose partly narrow high cliffs are over 100 and ravine up to 6 m. Drive on to the red lake; who was formed 160 years ago after an enormous storm. The fantastic landscape almost invites you to a walk in. In the afternoon arrival in Piatra Neamt - city in beautiful situation in the mountain country. Dinner and overnight accomodation.
4th day Piatra Neamt - Gura Humorului (200 km)
The journey continues in the enchanting scenery of Bucovina. Here in the "Beech Country" is of Romania's biggest cultural jewels, the Moldavia monasterys. Within 100 years originated pieces of art which are unique in the world. In the 15th and 16th century orthodox abbeys with marvellous, unbelievable in colour intensity in shining outside frescoes became established. Since the 60s the unique monasterys of Bucovina stand as a world cultural heritage under the protection of U.N.E.S.C.O. You will visit Moldovita , known by the facade painting rich in extent and the nicest of all choral walls in this land part. Further you see Sucevita, the latest one of the five big monasterys of Bucovina, with painted facades from 1596. In the end you visit Voronet, also known as the „Sistine Chapel of the East". It owns the most impressive outside fresces of the Moldaviamonasterys. The prevailing colour is an amusing blue which is known as „Blue of Voronet“. The west facade consists of a representation of the Last Judgement. Journey to the overnight stay place Gura Humorului. Dinner and overnight stay.
5th day Gura Humorului - Bistrita - Targu Mures (240 km)
From Gura Humorului the journey continues to the West. In the Tihuta Pass you will cross the East Carphatians. Here in the marvellous environment of the Bargaului Mountains Bram Stoker moved into the castle of the blood-sucking count in his Roman. Moving on to Bistrita. The former center of the German-speaking population stillposseses many remnants of the Saxonian presence in this area. From Bistrita one can go Southward in the direction of Targu Mures. Before the dinner a short town walk is taken. Dinner and overnight stay in TarguMures.
6th day. Targu Mures- Sighisoara - Sibiu (160Km)
Breakfast. During the journey you will pass through the village of the little 7 Castles of highland. You will see the famous Saxon Church Castles in the nice village Biertan and above all in Sighisoara, with the still inhabited and best preserved Medieval Castle in the Southeast of Europe. Stay for a visit of the Old Town under conservation of monuments and historic buildings of Sighisoara. The journey continues to Sibiu (Hermann's town) which showed once housed the biggest portion of German-speaking population in Transylvania. Dinner and overnight stay.
7th day . Sibiu
The German past is always present with the tour. Houses, lanes and backyards remind of the architecture of old German towns. Visit in the Bruckenthal Museum, the oldest and most important of museums of Romania. In the painting department works of Rubens, van Dycks and Jan Breughels are to be seen. In the afternoon, journey will continue to Curtea de Arges, former capital of Valahia and former prince's town. Visit of the monastery which include the nicest orthodox monasterys of Romania, with paintings from several centuries, gilt sculptures and prince's graves. Dinner and overnight stay in the environment.
8th day. Bucharest - return flight to U.K. |
