1st day – U.K.- Bucharest
Arrival at the airport in Bucharest- at Otopeni. The group is wellcomed by the Romanian Guide and is then transferred to the hotel. The capital ofRomania, with over 2 million inhabitants is one of the largest cities of the East. After almost three hours of travel the group reaches Bucharest.Bucharest is surnamed the "Paris of the East" - a shepherd gave this name to the city Bucur- Bucuresti. During the city tour, the group will see architectural monuments dating back from the “bark to epoque”, the Arch of Triumph, the monument of the Roman Wolf Female with Romulus andRemus. Bucharest experienced many dark times in the run of the centuries- like its distruction causes by the Turks in 1595. The country`s capital is called also the “Paris of the Balkans”. The group will undertake a round travel and see the National Theatre, the University of Bucharest, the Church of the Patriarchy and buildings from the 20th century, which were established under the dictator Ceausescu, and, if possible, the Palace of the Parliament – the second largest building (as surface) after the Pentagon worldwide. Afterwards, the group will visit the Patriarchy Cathedral – the seat of the Prthodox head of Romania, the VillageMuseum. Dinner and overnigh accommodation in Bucharest. 2nd day – Bucharest- Pitesti – Ramnicu Valcea – Sibiu
Breakfast. After breakfast, the group is driven to Pitesti, then to RamnicuValcea and Sibiu. On the way, a short stop is made at the CoziaMonastery (which dates back from the 14th century) – one of the oldest monasteries in Romania. Then, the tourists will go to Sibiu. In the afternoon, they will visit the town, which in the 12th century was under a Hungarian ruller. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Sibiu at a 3* hotel. 3rd day – Sibiu - Medias – Biertan – Sighisoara – Sibiu Transylvania is the romanian region the most recognized in the whole world for the story of Count Dracula and for its Saxonian Church Castles. Today, the group will drive in Transylvania, in order to visit the Church Castles from: Slimnic (Proud Castle), Axente Sever(woman village), St.Margareth`s Church. The churches from Medias have the largest wing altar in Romania, and so does the Castle from Biertan- the most beautiful church from Romania stands in Biertan – a typical farmer village in Transylvania, which is now listed as one of U.N.E.S.C.O. `s cultural monuments. At the end of the 19th century was the seat of the protestant bishops from Romania. After the visit in Medias and Biertan, the group will head towards Sighisoara, in order to visit the most beautiful medieval city in our country. In the center of the city rises the 429 meters high castle mountain, on whose highest point, mountain church and mountain school are visible far away. Along the fortress wall still stand nine that were at the beginning 14 towers with pointed roofs guard. That impressive building from the 14th century has passes through a fire in 1676. Another piece of splendor that will be visited there is the reproduction of an old pharmacy from the 17th century which lies in a tower of defense of the castle. Other objects of interest are : the Old Clock Tower, the birth house of Count Dracula, the Mountain Church, as well as Josef Haltrich High School. In the afternoon, the group reachesSibiu, which in the 12th century was under an Hungarian ruller. During a short walk in the old part of the town, the tourists will have the opportunity to visit the Bruckenthal Museum. Then, the group will go visiting the Catholic Baroque Church which dates back from the 18thcentury. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Sibiu at a 3* hotel. 4th day . Sibiu – Sighisoara – Biertan – Sibiu
The group goes to Sibiu, which in the 12th century was under an Hungarian ruller. During a short walk in the old part of the town, the tourists will have the opportunity to visit the Bruckenthal Museum. Afterwards, the group will visit the Gothic Church- the seat of the protestant bishop from Romania, where is buried the son of Dracula –Mihnea the Bad. The trip leads the group to Sighisoara, a city which is often compared to Salzburg. The objects of interest are : the Old Clock Tower, the birth house of Count Dracula, the Mountain Church, as well asJosef Haltrich High School. Festive dinner and overnight accommodation in Sibiu. 5th day. Sibiu – Alba Iulia – Cluj Napoca – Baia Mare
After breakfast, in the morning the group will go traveling towards the Western part of Romania, in order to reach Sebes. Here, the tourists will visit the Gothic Church. Afterwards, they will stop for a while in Alba Iulia. The Romanian history will guide the group to visit the “White” Palace from Alba Iulia and the Orthodox Churches, and Catholic Cathedrals and graves of the Transylvanian princes. The baroque castle-plant-far of the Habsburger is visited, according the program. It reminds of the visit at Karl`s Castle in Alba Iulia, where the group can still see parts of the fortress built by Eugen of Savoyen. By the victory gate of the castle rises the statue of the emperor Karl the VI th – the father of Maria Teresa , as a Roman General. At the Cathedral, where the group will go next, a lot of the Hungarian kings are buried. The journey continues with a trip to Cluj Napoca. Here, St. Michael`s Cathedral will be visited, according the program; this cathedral is often compared to St. Stephan`s Cathedral from Vienna, in the old part of town, which was built by the citizens ofSaxonia in 14th century. Late in the evening, the group will go to Baia Mare to have dinner and get an overnight accommodation. 6th day . Baia Mare – Suceava – Campulung Moldovenesc.
Breakfast in the morning. After the breakfast, the group goes in thevillage of Sapanta, which is situated in the Carpathians, where they will visit the “merry cemetery”. Here you can see a large cementery, usually full of blue colored wood, where all the funeral stones are inscripted with merry words, happy faces, which are talking about the deceaseds lives, about their occupations, their families, etc. On the way, the group will continue the journey, visiting the well-known Wood Churches from Ieud(Bogdan Voda, Rozalvea, Birsana), which are identical to the Staff Churches from Norway. In the afternoon, the group will cross the PrislopPass, in order to reach Suceava – the former capital of the Romanian “Moldaviae”, where are to be seen many objects of interest. The tourists will visit the old fortress of the city. Dinner and overnight accomodationin Suceava area or surroundings at a 3* Hotel. 7th day. Suceava – Piatra Neamt.
Breakfast in the morning. The group begins to visit the Moldovita Monastery, worldwide know due to its external wall painting. The tourist have here the opportunity to be introduced into the world of the orthodox faith by Sister Tatjana. Over the Obcina mountain was built the SucevitaMonastery, where the group can recognize another painting style. Thefresces are painted in a predominantly green background. This monastery possesses, among other things, the most beautiful Ikonostase from all country. The church of Sucevita is the most visited monastery fromBucovina. In the proximity, there is also the ceramics center of Marginea, where one can see the production of Black Ceramics . The MonasteryVoronet, which is called "The Sixtine Chapel" of Romania, is visited in the afternoon. The monastery Voronet disappeared, and now you can only see its ruins; the monastery was built by Stephen the Great, in the 15thcentury. In the afternoon the group will visit Humor and Arbore monasteries. TheArbore monastery is very small, but likewise very famous for its fresces. The group will visit the two nun monasteries Agapia and Varatec, which have over 1000 nuns and are the largest ones in whole Europe. The monasteryNeamt is one of the most interesting monasteries, from the Middle Ages, an important orthodox cultural center with schools for miniature paintings and copyes. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Piatra Neamt. 8th day – Piatra Neamt – Iasi – Tulcea. The journey continues with a trip to the eastern parts of Romania. The group will reach Iasi – the old capital of the Romanian old state – Moldova. A town round trip is programmed. Here, in Iasi, the tourists will have the opportunity to visit the Mitropolitan Church, the Siret River, the Coronation Church. The group will travel to Bacau and Galati, in order to take the ferry over the Danube, and reach Tulcea, the Danube`s gate. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Tulcea. 9th day. Tulcea – Danube Delta – Tulcea
After breakfast in the Danube Delta in the program the group will have a visit in one of the largest alive paradises in Europe. A daily trip for some hours will begin into the Danube Delta. The Danube is divided briefly before its delta into the Black Sea into three main arms. Chilia in the North, Sulina –the shortest- and Sf. Gheorghe in the South. The Danube arms are connected with channels among themselves. Between them lie numwerous lakes, as well as in the south- the lagoon landscape. With the large lagoons, from Razelm and Sinoe, the Danube Delta covers over 5000 Km2 and stands as biosphere reservation under nature protection of U.N.E.S.C.O. In the morning, the group is driven on to the rich planting and bird world, which are unique experiences, by the Sulina channel, up to the channel of the mile 36. The return trip leads the group by narrow Danube channels. A lunch on the board of the ship is included. Dinner and overnight accomodation in a 3* Hotel in Tulcea. 10th day. Tulcea – Sinai/Predeal. In the morning, the group leaves Tulcea in order to reach the West of the country. In order to arrive inSinaia, the tourists will first cross Valahia, the Bucegi Mountains, over the Prahova`s Valley. The group visits here the Peles Castle in Sinaia, which was the summer residence of the Royal Family. Karl von Hohenzollern Sigmaringen- victory marine general – who named Carol I as king on the Romanian Throne. To the mixture of wood, stone and framework architecture with asymmetrical towers in the style of the German Renaissance, are added Italian terraces, build in baroque style. The Peles Castle, built in the Bavarian Style, reminds the Hohenzollern`s of homeland. Sinaia is a city in the South Carpathians, which got the name from the monks from the Sinai Penninsula, because of the monastery, which was built here, in the now called town of Sinaia. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Sinaia/Predeal. 11th day. Sinaia/Predeal – Brasov - Bran – Sinaia / Predeal
After the breakfast in the morning the group is driven to Brasov(Kronstadt). Here, is visited the old part of town with its Black Church, the largest gothical building from Eastern Europe. Here valuable Turkish carpets are issued, which were given during the centuries by the Kronstaedter dealers of the church. The old city hall can be also visited in the proximity. The group will spend the midday in the ski travel area of Poiana Brasov (Schullerau), where they will eat the robber hut. For the afternoon is reserved the attendance of the Bran castle (Toerzburg). Although the building was began by the Teutonians, thecurent appearance was gained in the 13th century, when the citizens of Saxonia developped it into adefense system. This Castle is very well-kown as Dracula`s Castle, because for short time also the prince Dracula (Vlad the Phaeler) lived here, out of the Walachei. In reality, Vlad Tepes never entered the Bran Castle. But it was convinient back in those times to believe that he did, because Transilvaniawas a very powerful state and the Bran Castle really matches the Bram Stocker`s description aboutDracula`s Castle. The group will also visit the Church Castles from Harman and Prejmer which defended the town against the attacks of the Turks.Dinner and overnight accomodation in Sinaia or Predeal area. 12th day. Predeal – Moeciu – Curtea de Bad – Pitesti - Bucharest.
After breakfast, the journey continues with a trip to Moeciu and Curtea de Bad. Then. The group will go to Curtea de Arges, one of the most magnificent architectural monuments in Romania. Here one can see the tomb of the first Romanian king – Carol I. The Monastery Curtea de Arges is bound to the legend ofManole – the kraftsman who immured his own wife in the walls of the monastery in order to make the construction no longer fall down in the night. After this visit, the group will head towards Pitesti, and then Bucharest. Dinner and overnight accommodation in Bucharest. Here, the tourists will visit thePalace of Parliament –the second largest building in the world , after the Pentagon, the PatriarchalChurch – the seat of the Romanian bishops. In the evening, festive dinner with folklore programmes are set. 13th day. Bucharest – U.K. The group is transferred to the Otopeni Airport. They will say good-bye to their Romanian guide, and take a flight back to United Kingdom, in order to reach Frankfurt. |
